Alex Campbell’s Toastmasters Anniversary

The Calgary Pace Setters Toastmasters Club recently came together for a heartfelt and joy-filled evening to celebrate an extraordinary milestone—Alex Campbell’s 30th Toastmasters anniversary. A pillar of our club, Alex has spent three decades inspiring members with his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to personal growth and communication excellence.

To honour this remarkable achievement, club members secretly organized a surprise celebration titled “Toast & Roast.” The event brought together not only current members but many beloved former members, creating a beautiful atmosphere of community and connection. Alex’s wife, Wendy and his sister Linda joined the celebration, adding a special family touch to the evening.

Special Guests and District Recognition

The club was privileged to welcome District 42 Director Daisy Wei, DTM, who presented Alex with a special plaque from District 42, recognizing his incredible contribution to the Toastmasters community.

We were also honoured by the presence of Past District Director Christina Kruis, who shared heartfelt words for Alex. In a touching twist, Christina also celebrated her own 30th Toastmasters anniversary on the same day, April 1st. Club members surprised her with a bouquet as a small token of appreciation for her years of service.

A Tribute in Video and Words

One of the most touching moments of the evening came through a video tribute prepared by Eva Sefcova, featuring heartfelt messages from both current and former Pace Setters members. The video served as a powerful reminder of the countless lives Alex has impacted over the years.

A Team Effort Full of Heart

The celebration was a true team effort. Members brought delicious food, decorated the room with care, and contributed toward a thoughtful gift for Alex. A special cake adorned with Alex’s photo was unveiled, adding a sweet and personal touch.

Our Toastmaster of the evening, Twila Tayfel, led the “Toast & Roast” program with grace and warmth. Tzonka Bouklieva added a fun twist to the night with a Table Topics session featuring surprising tidbits about Alex, gathered from his family.

Behind the Scenes

At the heart of the entire event was Jovana Ivkovic, who masterfully organized the celebration with the help of a dedicated team of long-time members. Their combined efforts made for a smooth, heartfelt, and unforgettable evening.

An Honoured and Humbled Guest

Though he may have sensed something was up, Alex was almost surprised—and truly touched by the outpouring of appreciation and love. He was humbled by the attention to detail and the thoughtfulness shown by his fellow members and friends.

Celebrating Two Toastmasters Legends

It was a night to remember—celebrating not just 30 years of service, but the incredible legacy of two long-time Toastmasters, Alex and Christina, who have shaped our club and inspired so many.
