CLUB OFFICERS

A club officer has a very important role within Toastmasters International. The success of a club and its members depend on how well you and your fellow club officers execute your responsibilities. By providing leadership and support, you can foster a positive environment that’s conducive to members’ personal and professional growth, allowing them to achieve their Toastmasters education program goals.

DUTIES OF EXECUTIVE POSITIONS

President

• Leads the club • Promotes excellence • Presides over club meetings • Chairs executive committee & conducts club business • Understand & use the distinguished club plan • Prepares and submits semi-annual reports to international • Coaches other officers • Attends and votes at area & district meetings • Votes at regional & international meetings • Attends district training sessions • Pathways Base Camp Manager for Club

VP Education

• Plans dynamic club meetings • Surveys member needs to direct planning • Promotes the educational program • Orients new members to Toastmasters & club • Helps all members become effective evaluators • Arranges for Speech craft and other modules. Arranges for Youth Leadership • Presides in the absence of the president • Encourage members to participate in activities • Administers speech contests • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Pathways Base Camp Manager for Club • Attends and votes at area & district meetings • Votes at regional & international meetings • Attends district training sessions

VP Membership

• Builds club membership • Increases member satisfaction • Prepares the semi-annual membership report • Chairs the membership committee • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Attends district training sessions

VP Public Relations

• Creates a public relations program • Prepares publicity materials • Produces the club newsletter • Writes for company or community publications • Chairs the public relations committee • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Attends district training sessions

Treasurer

• Prepares an annual budget • Provides bank with new signature card • Notifies each club member of dues payable • Collects dues and fees • Issues checks for dues and other expenses • Pays bills promptly • Keeps full and accurate records • Presents a monthly financial report • Submits the club account for audit • Responds to government or tax agency inquiries • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Attends district training sessions

Secretary

• Maintains accurate membership roster • Records & reads meeting minutes • Assists with the semi-annual membership report • Reports new officers to international and district • Orders supplies from Toastmasters website • Keeps the club constitution & bylaws • Maintains general club correspondence • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Attends district training sessions • Pathways Base Camp Manager for Club

Sergeant At Arms

• Arranges meeting room and equipment • Greets all guests & members • Arranges food service at meal meetings • Maintains the club’s equipment & materials • Chairs the social committee • Attends & participates in the executive committee • Attends district training sessions

Past President

• Provides guidance and serves as a resource • Chairs the nominating committee • Helps with the distinguished club plan • Promotes the club’s efforts to be distinguished • Attends district training sessions
